So the Easter weekend is upon us and I hope everyone stays safe and sound and enjoys this special time of year.
Amid the chaos of tariffs, border security etc, there is a new problem for Canadian trans musicians who are planning to tour in the United States. Back in January of this year, President Trump signed an executive order stating that only a person sex at birth will be accepted on visas to enter the United States.
Canadian trans musicians are increasingly wary of touring in the U.S., due to new visa policies and safety concerns. Some artists, like Bells Larsen and T. Thomason, have canceled their American shows because of policies that now require visas to reflect an applicant's sex at birth. This change has made it impossible for some trans musicians to obtain the necessary documentation to perform in the U.S. Additionally, concerns about border security and reports of detentions have heightened fears, leading more artists to reconsider touring across the border.
It’s a heartbreaking situation, especially for musicians whose careers depend on international touring. But this situation also impacts a musicians ability to earn a living and create exposure for their music. For now, artists caught in this catch 22, will simply tour throughout Canada. We all need to support all of our Canadian musicians so that they are free to travel, promote, and gain exposure to all who want to hear their music. Here's hoping that the election, and whoever becomes the next Prime Minister, will put some pressure on the Trump administration to ease the restrictions that are in place now.

One Final Thought:

Easter's true meaning for Christians is the celebration of Jesus Christ's resurrection, symbolizing his victory over death and the hope of eternal life for believers. It's a pivotal event in Christian theology, demonstrating God's power and love, and affirming Jesus as the Son of God. Easter signifies the new covenant between God and humanity, where sin and death are conquered, leading to reconciliation and the promise of resurrection.

Until next time and as always stay tuned, stay safe, and be kind.
