With cottage season around the corner, we need start thinking about opening up our camps.
Our water systems are extremely important.

Start with checking the pressure/bladder tank, ensure there is sufficient air in the tank, typically the air side would be at 28psi, on a standard 30-50 on-off pump pressure set up.
You will want to check your intake line from the lake to ensure no damage from winter ice, and check your foot valve operation to ensure it’s not sticking open or closed.
Check all connections to ensure no leaks, and prime your pump well. Some of us use guzzler pumps to pull the water from the lake to the pump.

When you first start up the pump a good habit is to, run through your garden hose faucet first, to flush the lines.
This will help keep your faucets in the camp from plugging up, with any debris possibly in your water lines.
Once you flush your water system, it is good to replace any water filters and start the season fresh.

Final note, if you are unsure about your pump, it is good to have someone test it for you, this way you have peace of mind heading out to camp.
